Carmody's Hill Wind Farm June 2026 Construction Project Update

Construction Progress

Within the project site, construction compounds are being established and civil earth works are commencing. While most works will be carried out on private property within the project site, the community may notice an increase in works in the area along with more construction activity and vehicle movements on local roads.

Construction activities underway or about to start include:

  • Internal access tracks

  • Preparing areas for turbine foundations and hardstands

  • Delivery of site buildings, plant and equipment to support civil works

  • Civil works commencing at the Narridy Switching Station, which is accessed via Georgetown- Huddleston Road.

In the coming period, works are expected to expand to include concrete batching activities for wind turbine foundations.

Traffic, Heavy Vehicles and Road Access

With construction underway, heavy vehicle movements in and around the project area will continue, particularly as equipment and materials are delivered to site. This will involve ongoing use of some local roads, especially Lehmann, Humphris and Pattersons Roads. We would like to thank the community in advance for your patience and understanding as there will be periods of increased vehicle movements and temporary traffic conditions.

To manage safety and minimise disruption:

  • Traffic control and escort vehicles are in place for oversized loads

  • Consultation with the Northern Areas Council is underway to implement temporary speed zones to be applied in active work areas on Lehmann, Humphris, and Pattersons Roads where required

  • Traffic controls will be implemented where internal project roads connect into Georgetown-Huddleston, Lehmann, Humphris and Pattersons Roads during their construction, with these measures commencing September until November.

We have made efforts to contact residents on Lehmann, Humphris, and Pattersons Roads. If you haven’t heard from us and are operating oversized agricultural equipment or moving livestock on these roads, we encourage you to contact us by calling 1800 989 192 so we can coordinate movements with the project team.

Out of Hours Work

Out of hours work is any work that takes place outside of standard construction hours. Wherever possible, we carry out construction work during standard construction hours, however, some out of hours work will be required.

There will be a commencement of out of hours works on Sundays in the coming months. These will be planned in accordance with project approvals and relevant environmental and noise management requirements. Advance notice will be provided to affected stakeholders where impacts are expected via email or letter drop.

We acknowledge that this may impact the amenity of nearby residents and best efforts will be made to minimise such impacts.

Staying Informed

We encourage community members to stay informed and register for project updates to receive the latest information about construction activities, traffic changes and community initiatives. Head to the contact us page to register.
